Nether Wallop Mill

Nether Wallop MillThe Mill, in the pretty thatched village of Nether Wallop in Hampshire has been the home of Fishing Breaks for over ten years. Nestling at the head of the Test valley, beside the burbling Wallop Brook and with a gin-clear lake full of eager trout this is the perfect place to try your hand at fly fishing.

Every day is hosted by myself or one of my experienced instructors who have worked at Nether Wallop Mill, rain and shine, for many seasons. We are all knowledgeable and patient tutors with a great sense of humour. We know that learning to fly fish is more than just perfecting your casting; it is about catching fish, having fun and enjoying everything that makes for the perfect day beside a river.

We will of course take you from the basics to whatever level you want to achieve and will adapt to suit your needs on the day. The tuition will always be very practical, where the aim is to have you rod in hand and fishing with confidence in the shortest time possible.

The Mill is set up solely for private tuition and small groups. For the fishing we have a well stocked trout lake, for the casting the Mill pond and for advanced techniques there is a section of the Wallop Brook with some canny wild brown trout. The facilities are first class; easy car parking, a thatched oak fishing cabin with a veranda that overlooks the lake, a lounge, kitchenette and lavatory. All the tackle is provided and we even have every size of Wellington boot if you need to borrow a pair!

Nether Wallop is easy to reach, just over an hour from the M25. The local market town of Stockbridge (4 miles) is a good place to stay or visit, with a host of local shops, places to eat, four pubs to stay at and one hotel. It is also the ‘fly fishing capital’ of England with a famous fishing history, two fishing shops and the River Test flowing alongside the High Street.
